Traffic on the A53
By the time that this Newsletter is published, the Special Parish
Meeting with the County Council and the Police will have taken place in
the Village Hall to which residents of Chorlton, Maer and Loggerheads have
also been invited.
The Authorities are genuinely keen to listen to our concerns and
suggestions and a lively meeting is expected. The outcome will be
reported in the Parish Minutes and the next issue of One Way.
Pressure to carry out improvements will be maintained through all
legitimate channels.

Rural Transport Schemes
The Parish Council is pursuing two proposals. Firstly, the
provision of a Staffordshire Border Car to travel along the A53 from the
motorway to Market Drayton. To obtain maximum benefit, however,
greater flexibility in the route is needed. The Parish Council is
also participating in a joint scheme involving several neighboring
parishes to provide a heavily subsidised transport for the benefit of all
residents.

Closed Circuit Television
After much searching, it is hoped to attract further funding to enable
the provision of CCTV to cover the new playground and the adjacent car
park area. We plan for this to be achieved in parallel with the
scheme by the Village Hall Committee.

A Parish Plan
The Council has submitted an application for funding to assist in the
preparation of a Parish Plan setting out the views, problems and needs of
the community and its ambitions for the future. This will involve
consultations with every household in the Parish. Soon an
invitation will be sent out inviting those who wish to be involved in its
preparation to contact the Parish Clerk, and questionnaires will then be
prepared and sent out to every household.

Congratulations
Councillor Phil Maskery has been elected to the Newcastle under Lyme
Local Strategic Partnership Board. This body works to co-ordinate
the aims and needs of the Community in all aspects. His appointment
will be of great benefit in promoting interests of rural people at a time
of competing demands from other sections.
Congratulations are also due to Councillor Nick Hopper and his wife,
Helen, on the birth of their son, Lawrence, weighing in at 9Ilbs.
Both are doing well! |
